Interview with Marcelle Guedes

...

Let's meet Marcelle Guedes, Senior Data Scientist at Luza. 🙌

How did Luza come into your life and why did you choose us to develop your career?

I discovered Luza while searching for job opportunities on LinkedIn, and the project they offered — along with the company’s culture — was a perfect fit for me. I was looking for a collaborative and meaningful environment, and Luza immediately stood out as a place where I could grow and contribute.

What do you most value in the company and how do you expect to contribute to joint growth? What qualities stand out in you?

I value Luza’s focus on innovation, collaboration, and its human-centered approach to technology. I hope to contribute with my curiosity, adaptability, and data-driven mindset to help drive smart and meaningful solutions.

What is your opinion about remote work and why do you think it is a good option?

I believe remote work is a great opportunity to bring out the best in people. It fosters flexibility, focus, and inclusivity — and when done right, it can be even more productive than traditional setups.

What are your main functions and skills?

My main role is focused on data science and machine learning, applied to the fields of medicine and pharmaceuticals. I work with clinical data, AI models, and advanced analytics to generate insights that support better decision-making in clinical research. My skills include statistical analysis, coding, and a strong ability to translate data into strategy.

What project are you involved in and what do you do?

I'm currently involved in a project that supports clinical trials. I work on forecasting the best conditions to run a clinical trial and contribute to integrating generative AI into these processes. It’s a project that blends innovation with impact — and I'm excited to be part of it.

Where do you live and what do you like to do in your free time? Is there any curiosity about you?

I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I'm originally from Brazil and have been living here for just over a year. In my free time, I love traveling and discovering different corners of the city — running through Lisbon’s streets is one of my favorite ways to explore. I also enjoy literature and regularly take courses to broaden my literary horizons.
