Interview with Miguel Figueiredo

How did Luza come into your life and why did you choose us to develop your career?

Luza came into my life through a friend that was already working with the team. Before I was working in a medium-sized company, and I needed a new challenge to grow my professional experience. So, I heard that Luza was a young dynamic team, which I thought I could join to become a solution architect and join a new project in which I could push my boundaries of knowledge. So, I had an interview with Luza in which they introduced me to the company and their plan to create a team of high-quality software developers, in which I was all in for that. They also provided me with the possibility to study and achieve MS certifications which is something that I want in order to improve my resume and my consultant qualifications.

What do you most value in the company and how do you expect to contribute to joint growth?

What I most value in a company are the people, the projects and good software development. Luza currently has all that, the people here are amazing, honest and always available to meet our needs, no matter what. In terms of projects, I joined an extremely demanding project in which I could put my developer and architect skills to the test and learn new ways to create a high-quality product with a good development structure and with quality code.

What is your opinion about remote work and why do you think it is a good option?

I like the idea of not having the obligation to go to the office and have the flexibility to just stay at home and do my work. However, I also really enjoy going to the office and meeting my colleagues and Luza provides that. I'm currently from Viseu and they have an office here, which is perfect for me so that I can stay at home when I need, but also I can go to the office most of the time and be close to my colleagues at work and not have that full separation from my teammates that remote work brings.

What are your main functions and skills?

I'm a Microsoft Dynamics/ Power Platform Consultant. I'm a senior developer and I provide solutions to my customers with MS-related products and services, and also provide custom development for my customers with Javascript, c# .Net framework, Azure, Azure DevOps, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, Power Pages and other technologies that are required to get the job done.

What project are you involved in and what do you do?

I'm currently involved in an international project in which I'm developing a product that my customer is selling to their customers. The main objective of this product is to manage resources, timesheets and projects that the customer is involved in.

Where do you live and what do you like to do in your free time? Is there any curiosity about you?

I live in a small town in the district of Viseu called São Pedro do Sul, I usually commute to the office by car which is about more or less 30 minutes by car. In my free time, I really enjoy hiking and doing trail running, I also do some competitions of trail running in the mountains. I also enjoy doing side projects involving other technologies like React and Python.

What do you expect from the future?

I expect to improve my career and become a good solution architect, in projects of an international scale in which I can commit and create a project from scratch with a good and scalable structure and manage a team to work on it.

From my experience at Luza, I can surely say yes, as I told the people here are really honest and worried about the well-being of its employees. They are always providing feedback about the work and have open channels to reach out whenever needed, which I find very helpful. So yes, I believe that Luza is on the right track to fulfill its motto of "Happy People".
