Interview with Pedro Silva

...

Today we invite you to get to know Pedro Silva, who has just joined Luza as our first intern! 👋

How did Luza come into your life and what motivated you to start your professional journey with us?

I found Luza through LinkedIn, and the opportunity immediately caught my eye as it aligned perfectly with my goals. After researching the company, I realized it wasn’t just about the role, but about the environment; it seemed like a truly great place to work and grow, which made my decision to apply very easy.

What are your main learning goals during this internship?

My main objective is to continue growing both professionally and personally. I’m eager to gain more hands-on experience in the world of software development, and Luza has already proven to be the ideal ecosystem for that. I want to absorb as much knowledge as possible from the talented people around me.

What do you value the most in Luza so far, and how do you hope to contribute as you grow with the team?

Without a doubt, the company culture. Even in a remote work setup, Luza does an incredible job of fostering connection and organizing moments that bring the team together. Having colleagues spread from North to South and still feeling this sense of unity is remarkable. Additionally, the horizontal hierarchy and the trust placed in us from day one are key to the great atmosphere we have. I hope to contribute with my dedication and a fresh perspective as I evolve with the team.

What is your opinion about remote work and why do you think it can be a good option?

I believe remote work is an excellent tool for achieving a better work-life balance. The comfort of being at home and the ability to manage my schedule around peak workloads allows for much higher efficiency and ultimately leads to a more focused and productive professional performance.

What are your main functions and skills?

I am currently in a phase of professional certification to solidifying my expertise. I joined Luza with a strong foundation in software development and specific knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform. My next step will be working as a Microsoft Dynamics / Power Platform Consultant in the Managed Services team, where I’ll be supporting clients with the maintenance and optimization of their Power Platform solutions.

What kind of tasks or experiences have you had the chance to explore so far?

At Luza, my focus is currently on specialized training and certifications. However, I previously interned at a large software company where I gained a solid foundation in the Microsoft Power Platform. Throughout my academic path (Bachelor’s and Master’s), I’ve also been involved in several end-to-end projects, taking responsibility for everything from architectural design to final deployment in production.

Where do you live and what do you like to do in your free time? Is there any curiosity about you?

I live in Maia, Porto. Since I balance work with my Master’s studies, my free time is precious! I enjoy watching a good series, going for walks, and I love traveling whenever possible. A fun fact about me: I’ve been a Boy Scout for 15 years and I’m still very active in the movement - it’s a big part of who I am and how I developed my teamwork skills.

What do you expect from the future?

I expect great things! I hope the future continues to bring opportunities for growth and self-improvement. I’m motivated by challenges and look forward to seeing how far I can go, both personally and professionally, within the tech industry.

Do you consider that we are fulfilling our claim of “We make work a positive experience?” 😊 Why?

Definitely! I’ve been very well received by everyone. The team is incredibly helpful and friendly, and you can truly feel that the company invests in promoting a collaborative and supportive environment.

What advice would you give to other students who are about to start their first experience in tech?

Invest in yourselves! The beginning is always the most challenging part. While there is high demand in tech, there is also a lot of competition. Focus on building skills that make you a true asset and always look for ways to stand out and make a positive difference in your team.
